This is the Sony PlayStation 2 PS2 TEST Debugging Station System Model DTL-H30001. This is the Fat console version. They also made SLIM versions.

This system will be for sale once I can dump the system bios from it.

I tried to dump the bios using the guide on https://pcsx2.net/docs/usage/setup/gather/. The PlayStation Driver Version for this system is 1.10.

  • I put the "biosdrain.elf" file onto a FAT32 formatted USB drive. 
  • I downloaded FreeDVDBoot version "Some 2.10 models and all 2.12" and burned it on a Philips DVD-R at 2x write speed. 
  • After I put the dvd into the system, I get a message that says "DVD Player is not set up". Looks like the FreeDVDBoot software is not compatible with the Driver Version on this PS2 model. Or maybe I didn't follow the direction correctly. 
  • I ordered a "FreeMCBoot Memory Card".
    • I plugged in a PlayStation2 8mb Memory Card OEM Black, with FMcB V 1.966 and I only got a black screen with an occasional flicker.
    • Unfortunately, I could not dump the bios.

If there is anything you think is worth preserving from this system, please let me know before its gone.

This system can play:

  • PS1 & PS2 games
  • All regions
    • NTSC-U/C – The Americas.
    • NTSC-J – Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia.
    • NTSC-C – mainland China.
    • PAL – Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa.
  • Games that were written onto a disc from a home computer.

This system was developed for companies that made video games for the PS2. Since the video game developers needed a consoled to test and debug their own games, Sony made it easy on them and removed all region and copied game restrictions.

These systems were not meant to be distributed to the public.
